Thirty-seven unclaimed cadavers, including 23 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, were buried on August 19, 2025, at the Talabaan Public Cemetery, following a requiem mass offered to give the departed a solemn and dignified final rite.
An annual undertaking of the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the mass burial was done with the assistance of a local funeral parlor, where the bodies were stored for almost a year now.
City Administrator Percival Ramos, representing Mayor Khymer Olaso, and CSWDO Chief Socorro Rojas were present during the burial rites.
Ramos said the local government allocates funds through the CSWDO every year to ensure that unclaimed cadavers are given a decent burial.
The city government also expressed gratitude to the Department of Health (DOH) for helping ensure a hassle-free mass burial activity. (Sheyn Arambala) (photos/ videos: Fatima Jubail/ Jay Mark Esteban)
