Pursuant to the directive of Khymer Olaso, the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) immediately mobilized inspection teams to the East Coast, West Coast, and Central District of Zamboanga City to undertake post-earthquake assessments of school buildings and ancillary facilities.

The initiative aims to evaluate the structural condition and serviceability of academic buildings and related structures following the Intensity 4 earthquake that affected the city on the morning of June 8, 2026.

The assessment teams were tasked to conduct rapid visual and technical inspections to identify indications of structural distress, deformation, cracking, settlement, or other earthquake-related deficiencies that may compromise the integrity, stability, and safe occupancy of affected facilities.

The activity forms part of the City’s continuing commitment to public safety by ensuring that educational facilities and other structures remain fit for use prior to the resumption of classes and regular operations.
