Zamboanga City through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) was conferred the best highly urbanized city (HUC) in DRRM category during the 21st Gawad Kalasag Search for the regional level.
The CDRRMO accumulated an average score of 94.85%.
With this, the CDRRMO is qualified to compete in the national level competing with other HUCs in the country.
CDRRMO personnel received the award during the awarding ceremony held Monday, July 29 at the Chandlier Suites in Pagadian City.
The Gawad Kasalag (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is the country’s premier annual awards for outstanding contribution in the fields of disaster risk reduction and management and humanitarian assistance. It was originated in 1998 by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) formerly known as National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC).
Last 2017, Zamboanga City bagged the third place in the 2Gawad Kalasag search for excellence in disaster risk reduction and management and humanitarian assistance.
