Mayor John Dalipe on Monday, September 9, convened the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (ZCDRRMC) and the Zamboanga City La Niña Task Force to tackle the local government’s accomplishments in terms of disaster response and preparedness in the preceding quarter.
The local chief executive presided over the joint meeting that included presentations from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the City Health Office (CHO), and the Office of the City Veterinarian (OCVET).
During the said assembly, the joint bodies approved various resolutions to expand the composition of the ZCDRRMC to include representatives from the academe, and the children and families sectors; to donate an ambulance to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and the Bureau of Corrections – San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm; among others.
The ZCDRRMC and La Niña Task Force likewise resolved to recommend for the passage of a preemptive evacuation ordinance to address potential disaster threats. (Claudine Uniana)
