Beng orders prohibitions in cemeteries

Mayor Beng Climaco has issued an executive order promulgating rules and regulations for strict compliance in cemeteries in the city during the commemoration of Todos Los Santos y Difuntos on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.

The order takes effect Thursday, October 21 from 12noon to 5pm of Saturday, November 2.

Executive Order 512-2019, issued on October 31, strictly prohibits the bringing of firearms, bladed weapons and other similar items; bringing, selling and drinking of liquor; playing of loud music from radio/ portable speakers or communicating through microphones or conversing in loud voices that cause disturbance/ irritants to others except those religious rites under the strict supervision of the Parish priest of the barangay; any types of gambling and use of firecrackers/ pyrotechnics display inside cemetery premises.

The putting up of temporary stalls and selling of foods, beverages, candles and others within 50 meter space leading to the entrance/gate of the cemetery and along sidewalks is likewise prohibited so as to ensure free and unhampered flow of vehicular and human traffic in entering to and leaving the cemetery.

The EO likewise mandates that all motor vehicles shall be parked at designated areas outside the cemetery premises and that absolutely no vehicles shall be allowed inside the public cemetery and sidewalks.  (Sheila Covarrubias)
