Mayor Beng Climaco has lauded the police, PDEA and other law enforcement units for continuously reinforcing the anti-drug campaign, as she reiterated her administration’s all out support to the war against drugs waged by President Duterte.
This, as the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) recorded the highest number of anti-drug operations conducted as well as number of suspects arrested in the region for the period Jan. 1-Oct. 28, 2018.
A total of 938 operations were conducted with 1,274 suspects arrested by the ZCPO- a feat that is more than double the combined accomplishments of all other police stations in the region.
Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office recorded 148 operations with 189 arrests; Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial office – 104 ops with 136 arrests; Isabela City Police Office– 66 ops with 105 arrests and Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office – 54 ops with 66 arrests.
The PDEA and the ZCPO in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies spearheaded series of anti-drug buy bust operations the latest of which were conducted in barangays San Jose Gusu and Tumaga Porcentro.
It is recalled that ZCPO was awarded Best Unit in Accomplishment on Illegal Drugs as conferred by the Police Regional Office-9.
Mayor Climaco, through a directive to all barangays issued after the Rehabinasyon launching last March, has called for the conduct of anti-drug info drives in the barangays by PDEA and the City Mayor’s Office to make the people aware about the prevention and control of illegal drug use.
