More or less 255 families with 1,010 individuals in the coastal area of Aplaya, Manicahan were evavuated to the barangay’s multi-purpose covered court for safety due to tsunami threat resulting from the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that originated offshore Sarangani early Monday morning, June 8.
As of 11:30 am today, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) reported no injuries or accidents but monitoring of the sea level continues.
Forced evacuation had to be launched in the seaside area of barangay Manicahan as the sea experienced a sudden low tide, and later shifted to high tide.
Resources on the ground include personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, Task Force Zamboanga, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and barangay ambulance and officials.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams are on standby at the Manicahan Central Elementary School for any medical and or trauma incident.
