The Gender and Development (GAD) Section of the Office of the City Mayor in coordination with the Zamboanga City Female Dormitory of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology conducted an Orientation Seminar on Gender Sensitivity for BJMP Personnel last Tuesday, October 30 at a local hotel, this city.
City Mayor Beng Climaco, who is the GAD Chairperson, stressed the significance of the activity during her inspirational message. “We really reach out not only to in-house trainings for the City Government but even in the BJMP because we want to ensure that there are still opportunities for respect; for the inclusivity of males, females, and the LGBTQIA+,” she said.
This day-long seminar primarily aimed to increase awareness and knowledge of the BJMP Personnel regarding Gender and Development, promote gender sensitivity, and improve the delivery of services among detainees and their visitors through equality regardless of gender.
The participants were transpired with various gender sensitivity topics by resource persons from Commission on Human Rights, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Gender Research & Resource Center of Western Mindanao State University. (GAD section PR)
