City pursues cash aid for octo, nonagenarians

Mayor John Dalipe joins City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) personnel in the continuous rollout of cash assistance for octogenarians (80-89 years old) and nonagenarians (90-99 years old) in the different barangays in the city.

On Thursday, January 16, Mayor Dalipe spearheaded the payout for 106 senior citizens at the Guiwan barangay covered court, as he vowed to pursue the grant of assistance for the elderlies as a token of appreciation for their contributions to the city.

Of the total recipients, 86 were octogenarians while 20 were nonagenarians.

The CSWDO also went house-to-house to distribute the cash assistance to physically-challenged beneficiaries.

The grant of financial assistance is based on the provisions of Ordinance 539 known as the Octogenarian and Nonagenarian Benefit Ordinance which provides a P50K incentive to centenarians to be released in tranches – P10 in their 80s, P20K in their 90s and P30K when they reach 100 years old.

Payouts for octogenarians and nonagenarians as well as the grant of other benefits and assistance packages to senior citizens are continuously done in all barangays in the city. (CMO-PIO) (photo credits: Guiwan BION Agnes Sanson Natividad)
