Some 910 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program undergo orientation Wednesday, May 29, as they prepare for deployment soon.
Facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the city government, the orientation took place in 2 venues: Pasonanca covered court, hosting 502 beneficiaries, and Ayala covered court, hosting 408 beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries, who come from various barangays in the city, will embark on a 10-day employment stint, earning a daily wage of P381.00, or a total of P3,810 for the entire duration.
The TUPAD program, a community-based initiative, aims to provide emergency employment to displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers. It ensures employment for a minimum of 10 days but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries were equipped with essential cleaning paraphernalia including sweatshirts, rubber gloves, hats, and face masks, ensuring their safety and well-being during their tasks.
This initiative not only offers financial relief but also allows beneficiaries to contribute positively to their communities.
Present during the orientation program were Executive Assistant Ron Jacob Orendain, TUPAD coordinators from DOLE, coordinators from various barangays, and some barangay officials. (Bernadeth Lazaro)
