A total of 42 women from Manicahan District availed of the Cervical Cancer Screening (Visual Inspection by Acetic Acid or VIA) Tuesday, May 28, as part of the unrelenting efforts of the City Government to make health services accessible to all.
The activity was spearheaded by the Manicahan Health District under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Santiago (Medical officer IV) and District Nurse Joan Saure, in coordination with the City Health Office and the Zamboanga City Medical Center OB-Gyne Department led by Dr. Jehan Jabarani and Dr. Elno Estrada and team.
The VIA screening was done at the Manicahan Reproductive Health Unit (RHU) with a total of 42 women coming from 12 barangays under Manicahan District including the island barangays, receiving the free services.
Apart from the screening services, health awareness and advocacy on cervical cancer, hypertension and diet, immunization, family planning, and dengue was also conducted by HRH NDP Aynursida Requejo and medical students from ADZU-School of Medicine. (Sheila Covarrubias)
