Barangay Rio Hondo has been adjudged as the outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in Zamboanga Peninsula under the Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) category.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced the regional winners for the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) in the region in a post in its facebook page recently.
The DILG made the announcement following a rigorous assessment process to search outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa, an administrative body created by law to operationalize in the barangay justice system, which is better known as the Katarungang Pambarangay.
“DILG IX extends its sincerest congratulations to these outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa. Their exemplary performance will not only be recognized regionally but will also propel them forward as contenders for the prestigious National LTIA competition. Let their success inspire all barangays to strengthen their Katarungang Pambarangay mechanisms and contribute to building a more peaceful and harmonious Zamboanga Peninsula,” the DILG said in its fb post.

Component Cities Category: Barangay Olingan, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte
1st to 3rd Class Municipalities Category: Barangay Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur
4th to 6th Class Municipalities Category: Barangay Sumadat, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur
The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) was established pursuant to Section 406(b) of the Local Government Code of 1991 which mandates the DILG to grant economic and other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa (LT) for their outstanding contributions to attain the objectives of the Katarungang Pambarangay.
