AGRIVENTA 5.0 reels off May 15 at KCC

In celebration of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolks’ Month 2024, the Department of Agriculture- IX in collaboration with the city government mounts Agriventa 5, a four-day event showcasing fresh and processed agri-fishery products from all over Zamboanga Peninsula, from May 15-19, 2014 at the KCC Atrium East-Wing.

Mayor John Dalipe together with Department of Agriculture Regional Technical Director for Operations Maria Melba Wee, RAFC Chairman Leonardo Caparida, Senior Agriculturist Arcele Templa, OIC-AMAD Jonah Lyn Corpuz and City Agriculturist Arben Magdugo led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, May 15.

A total of 49 DA assisted agribusiness enterprise and marketing services from all over the region are participating in the event.

This year’s Agri-VENTA aims to provide a platform for farmers and fisherfolk to showcase their products and access wider markets. The event promotes networking among stakeholders, fostering partnerships and collaborations between producers, suppliers, buyers, and industry experts. It also highlights the diversity and quality of local agricultural and fishery products, bolstering pride in local produce and supporting rural economies.

Mayor Dalipe expressed gratitude to the DA-IX and AMAD, emphasizing the importance of supporting local farmers and fisherfolk. “Let us come together to celebrate our local farmers and fisherfolks, support our rural economies, and champion the remarkable produce of our region,” Mayor John Dalipe said.

The event also features various side activities such as a Forum on Investment Opportunities on Cassava for Feeds and an Orientation on the Young Farmers Challenge Program on May 16, an Agri-Credit Forum and Investment Opportunities on Ceylon Tea on May 17, and a Search for Most Innovative Food Preparation Contest and Business to Business Meeting on May 18.
