The City Treasurer’s Office is now in custody of the election paraphernalia which will be used in the synchronized national and local elections on Monday, May 9.
City Treasurer Romelita Candido said the election materials, which include 638 boxes containing the official ballots and envelopes for voting and counting, were delivered to her office by F2 Logistics on April 28, a day after their arrival in Zamboanga City last April 27.
However, one box of indelible ink was lacking but will be supplied by Comelec regional office before the actual distribution, Candido said.
As early as last week CTO personnel rendered overtime to prepare for the distribution of the election paraphernalia to the board of election inspectors.
She added that the official ballots and other election paraphernalia will be distributed to the different precincts in both districts on May 7 and 8, and will be retrieved immediately after vote counting and sealing on Monday.
Meanwhile, Candido said the Vote Counting Machines or VCMs are presently stored in the warehouse of F2 Logistics, and will be distributed together with the ballot boxes before the actual voting on Election Day.
Under the law, the City Treasurer’s Office is in charge of the custody and distribution of election supplies and paraphernalia for the May 9 national and local elections. (Vic Larato)
