The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) has asked an exemption from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the distribution of food assistance to Covid-19 patients in the city.
The request for Comelec exemption was contained in a resolution approved during the CDRRMC virtual meeting Tuesday morning, which was presided over by Dr. Elmeir Apolinario, head of secretariat of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).
This, after the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reported to the council that it already stopped delivering of food assistance to households with Covid-19 cases due to the existing Comelec.
Delivery will only resume upon receipt of Comelec exemption as sought.
Meanwhile, Dr. Apolinario reported that the city government’s P10 million financial assistance for victims of Super Typhoon Odette in Luzon and Visayas last December 2021 had already been received and acknowledged by the LGUs of the hardest-hit areas.
Of the total amount, P650,000 was given to Cebu City, another P650,000 to Carcar City, P500,000 to Cabadbaran City, P500,000 to Butuan City, P350,000 to Bayawan City, P500,000 to Danao City, P1.5 million to Lapu-Lapu City, P650,000 to Maasin City, and P400,000 to Mandaue City. The other recipients are: Naga City with P750,000, Puerto Princesa City with P650,000, Surigao City with P1 million, Tagbilaran City P400,000, and Talisay City P1.5 million.-(Vic Larato)
