Following the fire incident Sunday night, Mayor John Dalipe early morning today motored to barangay Labuan to personally deliver relief assistance to families who lost their homes in the blaze.

Together with City Police OIC Director Col. Kimbely Molitas, some City Councilors and barangay officials, the mayor sympathized with the displaced families and assured them of the necessary support and assistance from the local government.

The relief goods distributed at the Labuan covered court, the temporary evacuation center, included hot meals, water, food packs, kitchen utensils and hygiene and sleeping kits to name a few.

Based on profiling and assessment by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), a total of 42 families with 170 individuals were affected by the fire that hit Purok 4, Labuan, around 8:30 Sunday night, March 31. Of the 42 families displaced, 37 were house owners and 5 were renters.

Totally damaged houses reached 37 while partially damaged were 5 dwellings – all made of light materials.

When informed of the incident Sunday night, Mayor Dalipe mobilized city government resources to help in the response efforts spearheaded by the Bureau of Fire Protection. He dispatched water tankers, ambulance and a medic team to Labuan to augment BFP resources.

Accompanying the mayor were Councilors Jihan Edding, Aida Paniorotan, CJ Dalipe, Jerome Santos, Charlie Mariano, Jimmy Villaflores, Marxander Cabato and Jordan Evangelista, and Labuan barangay officials led by Chairperson Ron Carlo Maravilla and Kagawad Ronald Maravilla. (Sheila Covarrubias)
