The Health Caravan organized by the Philippine Red Cross-ZC Chapter in partnership with the City Health Office and other agencies with the support of Australian Aid (AUSAID) continues to roll out to provide essential health services to the marginalized and vulnerable sectors in far-flung communities in the city.
This, as the team on Saturday, March 16 reached out 312 indigent families in barangay Lanzones providing a range of services that included health consultation with free medicines, dental services, health and hygiene promotion, first aid and lecture-demonstration, free haircut, blood typing service and recruitment for various Red Cross volunteer among others.
Hot meals (arroz caldo) and free vitamins and supplements were also distributed.
The volunteer serice recruitment included Medical Corps and the Membership with Accident Assistance Benefit (MAAB).
The health partners during the activity were the PNP RMDU 9, 55th Special Action Company, 84th Special Action Company, Ateneo de Zamboanga School of Medicines as well as X3.
Barangay Lanzones led by Chairperson Jose Rosellier Atilano expressed gratitude to the organizers for helping and providing the residents with the much needed health services. (Sheila Covarrubias)
