Mayor John Dalipe fulfills his promise to provide additional parking spaces in the city amid the no-let up campaign against illegal parking in downtown streets pursuant to a local ordinance and DILG memorandum.

This, as the city opened another free parking space at Rizal Street corner N.S. Valderoza St. fronting the former Tsokolate Restaurant – the 7th parking space to be opened under the Dalipe administration.

Dubbed as Tsokolate Free Parking Space 2.0, the site is open for use by the general public, both four-wheeled vehicles and motorcycles.

Assistant City Administrator for City Affairs Rodolfo Saavedra Jr. said the parking space can accommodate 20 cars and 150 motorcycles.

The use of the area is a result of intense negotiations with private lot owners for the provision of additional parking spaces undertaken by the Dalipe administration.

From 2023 to present, a total of 7 parking spaces have been opened, 4 of which are free parking spaces for public use – Balete parking area near the City Hall annex building; Tsokolate 2.0; the property near the PPA entrance in Corcuera Street and the defunct City Theater building at I. Magno St. corner P. Reyes St. The fifth parking space opened was Tsokolate 1.0
(located just beside Tsokolate 2.0), which is for the exclusive use of LGU department heads and the sixth is the JS Alano motorcycle parking area which is exclusively for local government employees.

One paid parking space was also opened for both 4-wheel vehicles and motorcycles – the former Wilson Ice Plant located in front the City Fire Department.
