The City Health Office in collaboration with the Department of Health kicks off anew the massive immunization campaign for children ages 0-23 months old, today, Nov. 13 until Nov. 29.
CHO vaccination teams are deployed in the city’s 98 barangays to conduct house-to-house initiatives as well as establish fixed vaccination sites to ensure that no child will be left behind. Temporary vaccination sites will also be set up in coordination with partner agencies in malls and other strategic locations.
Zamboanga City’s total population for 0-23 months old children is 20,850.
Dubbed Chikiting Bakunation Days, the 17-day campaign is an intensified routine and catch-up immunization and will provide required antigens (vaccines) like tuberculosis (BCG), hepatitis B (Hepa B), Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, Flu (pentavalent vaccine) Polio (OPV), Polio (IVP) and Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR).
The campaign seeks to bring renewed energy to accelerate catch up and prevent future outbreaks. (Sheila Covarrubias)
