Dalipe urges new SK officials to perform well

Mayor John Dalipe, who kicked off his political career as a Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson at 17 years old, urged newly-elected SK officials to perform well for the constituents they vowed to serve despite the challenges.

“Nothing is impossible,” the mayor told the participants to the Mandatory Training for newly-elected SK officials organized by the Local Youth Development Office and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation together with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), National Youth Commission (NYC) and the City Government, at a local hotel downtown from Nov. 3-6.

Despite the challenges, Dalipe said, SK officials must persevere and give their all-out best to achieve their goals. “Two years is very short, so perform well. Todo’l dia trabaja ustedes,” he added.

The mayor assured the new SK officials that he will always be ready and willing to help them in any way he can, as he wants the SK to succeed in its plans, programs and projects. “Rest assured taki yo pirmi para suporta con ustedes maga SK. No quiere yo que tiene man fail. Quiere yo todo man succeed,” he added.

The mayor likewise cited the significance of the training and expressed elation that all newly-elected SK officials are mandated to attend the training under the existing laws. During his term, he said only the SK chairmen were required to undergo the mandatory training.

As they prepare to assume office next month, newly-elected Sangguniang Kabataan officials from the city’s 98 barangays undergo the mandatory training. The training is conducted by batches to cover all the 98 SK barangay councils in the city. (Sheila Covarrubias)
