Job seekers, mostly new graduates and unemployed individuals trooped to the Hermosa Job Fair organized by the City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) at the KCC Mall Friday, October 3.

The event, held from 9am to 3pm, was an annual activity and formed part of the 2023 Zamboanga Hermosa Festival calendar of activities. It was in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) and other agencies.

 Mayor John Dalipe who keynoted the opening program, emphasized that providing jobs and livelihood is one of the priority programs of his administration in line with the thrust on progress and development (progreso y desarollo).

The city government, through the PESO will initiate more job fairs and other job-generating activities as part of the sustained jobs and livelihood generation program of his administration, Dalipe vowed.

As of 3pm, the PESO office recorded a total of 530 interested participants to have registered during the job fair with 327 females and 203 males.

The job fair rolled out some 4,073 job vacancies, 2,789 of which were for overseas placement while 1,284 were for local placement.

Twenty-two (22) agencies are participated in the job fair – 18 were local companies while 4 were overseas recruitment agencies.

Present during the kick-off program were DOLE-ZC field office chief Ma. Elena Alabata, PESO Manager and Assistant Human Resource Management Officer Jerico Jan Bustamante, WMSU Job Placement Officer Nerlyn Concepcion, partner agencies and sectors and DOLE and PESO staff.  (Sheila Covarrubias)
