Persons with Disabilities (PWD’s) shine on stage as they flaunt their singing and dancing in the first-ever PWD’S Got Talent organized by City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) PWD Affairs Unit at the Astoria Plaza Friday, October 13.
Conducted as a post-Fiesta Hermosa activity, the talent contest had 2 categories – the Solo Singing and Group Dancing Contest with 7 entries per category representing their respective field office.
The PWDs Got Talent highlighted the importance of recognizing and appreciating the talents possessed by PWDs, proving that disability is never a barrier to success. It was held in partnership with the City Tourism Office and Zamboanga City PWD Federation.
Mayor John Dalipe approved the inclusion of the event in this year’s Zamboanga Hermosa Festival calendar of activities, to ensure PWD inclusion and empowerment and enhancement of quality of their lives.
Winners in each category received P5K for first prize, P3,500 for second prize and P2,500 for third prize. Non-winners received P1,000 consolation prize each.
With the success of the PWD’s Got Talent event, Zamboanga City demonstrates its commitment to inclusivity and the recognition of PWD’s as valuable members of society.
Present during the activity were CSWDO Head Socorro Rojas, Asst. CSWDO Uldarico Fabian and staff, ZCPWD Federation President Kerwin Serano and staff, Councilors Jerome Santos and Jerky Valesco, Office of the City Tourism personnel, and several others. (Bernadeth Lazaro/CMO-PIO)
