The District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH9) is currently implementing a total of 103 various infrastructure projects amounting to P2.007 billion in different parts of Zamboanga City.

Of the total number of projects, 66 are under construction with 35.43% accomplishment and 37 not yet started.

This was announced by Erlinda Gregorio, chief of the Construction Section of the District Engineer’s Office, during the press briefing July 25 in City Hall.

The ongoing projects include 15 roads and highways with total allocation of P504.362 million at 33.87% completion rate, 15 of 16 flood control projects worth P552 million at 40.09% accomplishment, convergence and special support program—roads leading to declared tourist destination in the amount of P50 million with 89.51% completion.

Also under construction are access roads leading to trades and industry and economic zones with P78 million allocation and 30.08% accomplishment, 2 of 3 projects in support to peace and security programs costing P53 million with 30.859% completion, 17 water supply projects and rain collectors amounting to P82.316 million [not yet started], and 2 of 4 sustainable projects worth P122 million.

At least 24 projects under basic infrastructure program with P250 million allocation are ongoing with 36.53% accomplishment as of this week, and P10.352 million worth of projects under the local program now at 69.99% completed.

Programmed for implementation this year are 8 educational facilities with a total allocation of P170 million.

In addition, 12 of 13 projects amounting to P210 million under the Department of Agriculture are also under construction with 37.81% accomplishment.-[Vic Larato]
