A public screening is set for the entries of this year’s film festival in line with the Dia de Zamboanga celebrations.
From February 16 to 20, the entries for the Zamboanga Film Festival 2020 will be shown at the KCC Mall ground floor activity area. The public screening will officially kick-off on Sunday, February 16, 5 PM, after which screening times will be set for 9AM, 12NN, 3PM and 6PM in the succeeding days.
Twenty (20) short films were selected to be part of the film competition – 10 films for the live action category and 10 for the animated category.
Entries for the live action category are: “Bira” by Owen Lepiten, “Bunnal Daya (Real Treasure)” by Renan Fernando, “Dieciséis” by Christian Lim, “Dos Cabezas” by Roseller de Guia, “El Llanto Del Mariposa” by Tennyl Dehm Canlas, “Luz” by Sharmaine Bulaong, “Mag-tingih (Seaweed Planting)” by Jurham Kalam, “Noor-hada” by Jun Señara, “Papel” by Kirk Casuyon, and “Rescatarme” by Aeon Rhys Abad.
For the animation category, entries are: “Distance” by Clint Maverick Wee, “Elated” by Jessamin Damsid, “Luminuos” by Carl Venson Zarraga, “Malengag” by Chad Delos Santos, “Monster” by Gazelle Lenes, “Quebradura” by Alana Lois Alano, “Stuffed” by Jarild Ken Maravilla, “The Rope” by Hazel Rosie Bayaras, “The Shoemaker’s Shop by Arwa Ajirim, and “Watching Over” by Yana Shantelle Marie Molina.
The Awards Night will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, 6PM at Centro Latino. Major awards will be given for best films, special awards recognizing different film competencies, and a voters’ choice award.
The Zamboanga Film Festival 2020 is organized by the City Government of Zamboanga in line with the celebration of the 83rd Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga. The competition was opened to all professional or student film-makers and animators in the city as part of the local government’s efforts to promote arts and recognize local artists and creators.
