Mayor lauds Crown, WMPC agreement

Mayor Beng Climaco lauded Thursday the Crown-Desco, the investor-manager of the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco), and the Western Mindanao Power Corporation (WMPC) for coming to terms on a new compromise agreement that will ensure stable electricity in the city.

“The compromise agreement spells out the terms and conditions that both parties have to perform within the agreed period like Zamcelco to pay certain amount for its arrears to WMPC and the latter will continue to supply power to the co-op,” Climaco explained on “Dateline Teleradyo,” over GBPI-TV 11.

The new agreement will last for 90 days within which Zamcelco thru Crown-Desco will pay WMPC the amount of P150 million as part of its commitment to minimize its outstanding arrears. Zamcelco also agreed to continue to nominate power from WMPC.

The WMPC will in turn dispatch power to Zamcelco upon nomination under the terms of the existing Power Sales Agreement and the compromise agreement.

The new compromise agreement came after series of meetings and negotiations between both parties at the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in Manila with Vice Mayor Rommel Agan as point person for the city government.

With the new agreement, the city chief executive hopes for continuous and stable power supply without fluctuations and outages.

“That is what we, consumers, should demand from them,” the mayor stressed.-(Vic Larato) (FILE PHOTOS by Kathy Wee Sit)
