The City Government through the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Unit PDAU) under the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWSO) will spearhead activities celebrating the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week from July 17-23.

Themed “Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Mga Taong May Kapansanan”, the NDPR week celebration will kick off with a motorcade at 8am Tuesday, July 17 from Pettit Barracks compound to Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum in Tetuan to be followed by the opening program with Mayor Beng Climaco as keynote speaker.

A huge gathering of members of the PWD Federation in Zamboanga to include Barangay PWD organizations such as those from Cawit, Sta. Maria, San Roque, Boalan, Labuan, Sangali, Mampang and Taluksangan together with their respective Barangay Kagawads who are PWD Focal Persons will converge at the Lotus Restaurant at Grand Astoria Hotel during the week for an important gathering.

The celebration of the NDPR Week every third week of July is pursuant to Proclamation 361. The nationwide activity culminates July 23, the birthday of Apolinario Mabini, the sublime paralytic.

Newly-installed elected city officials have been invited to attend the opening salvo at the City Coliseum in Tetuan.  (PDAU PR)
