The Gender and Development (GAD) unit under the Office of the City Mayor has scheduled a women’s forum that will highlight the meaningful participation of the women sector in creating lasting peace.

Dubbed “Women Uniting for Peace”, the forum aims to promote awareness of Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women and building and sustaining peace through women empowerment.

The activity is slated on Tuesday, March 26 from 1pm to 4pm at the activity center, east wing of KCC Mall de Zamboanga in Gov. Camins.

Hundreds of women representing the different sector as well as men advocating RA 9710 will participate in the event.

Women’s voices are very crucial in the move to create lasting peace, the GAD Unit emphasized. “From conflict prevention to reconciliation and economic recovery post-conflict, women’s meaningful participation in peace goes beyond just representation,” the GAD unit said. (Sheila Covarrubias)
