374 ASF-hit swine raisers receive food aid

The City Government continuously assists and supports swine raisers hardest hit by African Swine Fever (ASF) infection.

Three hundred seventy-four (374) swine raisers coming from 15 barangays were the latest recipients of food assistance distributed by the city government through the Offices of the City Veterinarian (OCVET) and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWDO).

The food aid forms part of the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation or AICS.

Affected swine raisers are also entitled to cash assistance from the City Government.

Based on OCVET records, a total of 34 barangays have been hit by ASF as of September 15, 2022 with 1,009 hog/swine raisers affected.

Hog mortalities have reached 4,121 while 967 hogs have been culled since the start of the ASF outbreak in the city last May. (Sheila Covarrubias)
