35 families get housing units at Azcuna resettlement site

The City Government through the Housing and Land Management Division (HLMD) under the Office of the City Mayor turned over to deserving beneficiaries 35 housing units located at the Azcuna Resettlement project in barangay Mercedes.

The housing units were constructed at the city-owned resettlement site in Mercedes by the Ummah Welfare Trust, a local non-government organization headed by Sheikh Mohamed Abdelraouf and spouse Ma. Socorro Talon and were awarded for free to the beneficiaries.

HLMD Officer-in-charge Rodrigo Pagoisidro and concurrent Public Service Officer IV under the OCENR said the NGO committed to continuously construct housing units to be given for free to indigent and underprivileged families of the Azcuna resettlement site.

With the housing units given for free, the families will only pay for the lot acquired through the community mortgage program (CMP).

As this developed, the awardees expressed sincerest gratitude to the Umma Welfare Trust for the generosity saying the donation gives them hope and a better future. They also vowed to take good care of the housing units. (Sheila Covarrubias)
