2024 economic enterprises’ income soars – City Admin

The City Government remains hopeful that city-operated economic enterprises will continue to generate additional revenue that can be used to fund projects, programs, and initiatives for the benefit of the Zamboangueño constituents.

This, as City Administrator Atty. Wendell Sotto released the total income generated by the various economic enterprises managed by the local government to members of the local media during the press briefing at City Hall last Tuesday, January 14.

While the reported data only covered earnings from January to November 2024, the city official expressed confidence that last year’s income have exceeded that of 2023.

“As of November 2024, todo local economic enterprises ya puede man hit el target. In fact, yan surpass con el previous income que ya man generate for the year 2023,” Sotto shared.

The city’s Main Public Market was the biggest earner last year with an income of P31,998,559 during the first 11 months last year compared to the P34,260,570 it collected from January to December of 2023, while the Sta. Cruz Market earned P19,738,780.

The Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) remained one of the city’s strongest moneymaker with an earning of P19,378,799 in 2024.

Paseo del Mar and the City Abattoir grossed P3,436,735 and P8,585,827, respectively.

The Mampang Public Cemetery contributed P2,380,000 with the City Crematorium, which only started operating last year, making P146,800.

Meanwhile, the night markets operating in key areas in the city have amassed an aggregate income of P8,230,255. This includes the one at the IBT complex as well as parking fees collected therein.

For 2025, the City Administrator’s Office has also set a target collection and Atty. Sotto is hopeful that the collections will surpass the 2024 income. (Claudine Uniana) (photo credits: Kathy Wee Sit/ file)
