Mayor John Dalipe Tuesday morning handed over a reward cheque worth P50K each to the barangays of Cacao and Calabasa, which were recently declared drug cleared barangays.
Mayor Dalipe lauded Cacao and Calabasa for their anti-drug efforts, as he urged all other barangays to work hard as well to attain the drug-cleared declaration. He reiterated his all out support to the campaign to rid the city of illegal drugs.
Cacao and Calabasa were declared drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) last April 25. They join 14 others that have been drug-cleared in recent years. One other barangay has been declared as unaffected.
The efforts to attain the drug-cleared declaration are jointly undertaken by the different agencies that comprise the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).
The 17 drug-cleared and unaffected barangays are Licomo, Limaong, Sibulao, Tictapul, Tigbalabag, Calabasa, Cacao, Lapakan, Tolosa, Landang Laum, Lanzones, Pangapuyan (unaffected), Pasilmanta, Lumayang, Capisan, Dulian and Pamucutan.
Joining the mayor during the handover of the reward cheques were City DILG Director Ginagene Vano-Uy, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite, PDEA-City Agent Jury Roca, Barangay Affairs Division Chief Montano Cortez, Jun Cillo of DILG, ZCPO representatives led by PLTCol. Sanson, Dr. Macmac Sta. Elena of CHO and several others.
Cacao was represented by barangay chair Erwin Barcelona while chairman Expedito Rebollos Jr. represented barangay Calabasa. (Sheila Covarrubias)
