Eighteen (18) families displaced by the conflagration in barangay Guiwan last May 27 were given financial assistance as part of the City Government’s social welfare program and assistance in crisis situation.
Mayor Beng Climaco together with personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and City Treasurer’s Office distributed the cash assistance to the families in City Hall Monday morning.
The mayor hoped that the financial assistance would help alleviate the plight of the affected families even as she assured the City Government’s continuing social welfare program.
Immediately after the fire incident, the affected families were given food and relief assistance and other needs by the government and other well-meaning institutions and individuals.
Mayor Climaco exhorted the families to be resilient and to look at life positively despite the challenges.
The grant of the assistance is facilitated by the CSWDO after the conduct of assessment and validation of the list of beneficiaries. (Sheila Covarrubias)
