In celebration of Heritage Month, the City Museum, under the Office of the City Mayor, with the support of the City Tourism Office, invites all Zamboangueños who own valuable artifacts to join the “Riqueza Na Baul” Competition.

 

Inspired by the “America’s Lost Treasures” television program of the National Geographic Channel, the “Riqueza Na Baul” Competition aims to bring out and share our valuable collections, which are highly relevant to the culture, arts, heritage, and historical development of Zamboanga City.

The judges for this competition will be composed of a pool of experts in the local history, arts, culture, and heritage of Zamboanga City and museum experts. All entries will be judged based on their historical and cultural value using the following criteria:

1. Significance to history, culture, the arts, or heritage (35%)

2. Quality of artifact (15%)

3. Background information provided (30%)

4. Age of the artifact (20%)

 

The submission of entries runs from May 11 to May 17, 2023.

The winners of this competition will receive the following prizes:

1. 1st Prize: 10,000 pesos

2. 2nd Prize: 8,000 pesos

3. 3rd Prize: 7,000 pesos

4. Seven (7) consolation prizes of 5,000 pesos each

 

The awarding ceremony will be on May 29, 2023, at El Museo de Zamboanga, Pasonanca, where the winners will receive cash prizes. The top 10 winning entries will be exhibited at the City Museum for at least one (1) month and be loaned to the City Museum for an initial period of three (3) years.
