The Business One Stop Shop, the simplified procedure for acquiring business permits, will be operational starting today, January 3 until January 20 to serve local businessmen, at Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar.

Operating hours will be 8am to 8pm Mondays thru Fridays and 8am to 5pm Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Under the BOSS system, all agencies involved in business registration and renewal process will be housed at Centro Latino for the convenience and comfort of business operators. These agencies are the City Treasurer’s Office, City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Health Office, City Veterinarian Office, City Administrator’s Office, Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources, City Agriculturist Office, City Tourism office, Bureau of Fire Protection and the City Licensing and Permits Division.

The system, aimed to provide a single location and a simplified and customer friendly transaction will utilize three steps: application, payment and release. It is based on the business permit and licensing system (BPLS) reforms standards to streamline business registration and renewal process based on certain criterions and is implemented through technical support from USAID-SURGE.

Under the law, business registration ends January 20. Late filers will be meted with 25% surcharge per quarter and 2% additional surcharge per month.

The documentary requirements for new business registration will be as follows: proof of business registration; business capitalization as business for computing taxes, fees, and charges; occupancy permit (for new/renovated buildings); contract of lease (if lessee), and; barangay clearance for business purpose.

For renewal applications, the documentary requirements are basis for computing taxes, fees, and charges, and barangay clearance for business purposes. (Sheila Covarrubias)
