For hassle-free Todos los Santos y Difuntos: Mayor commends authorities, volunteers

For executing a well-planned security plan dubbed as Oplan Todos los Santos y Difuntos, Mayor Beng Climaco commended police and military authorities, the volunteers and all force multipliers for their efforts in public safety and security.

Since October 31, the mayor, together with Acting City Police Director PSSupt. Neri Ignacio and Joint Task Force Zamboanga commander Col. Leonel Nicolas, made the rounds of the different public and private cemeteries, the Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) and other places of convergence to check on the situation and ensure that security measures are properly implemented.

Specifically, the mayor thanked the police and military including forces from the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, Philippine Marines, Bureau of Fire Protection as well as the different radio groups, NGOs, medical teams, the City Health Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, barangays, tanods and volunteers for providing support and assistance that resulted to a successful implementation of the operation plan.

Except for confiscation of some prohibited items based on Executive Order 303, no major incident was recorded in any of the almost 40 major public and private cemeteries in the city during the observance All Saints Day and All Souls Day, Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.

Aside from EO 303 promulgating rules and regulations for implementation in cemeteries, the mayor also issued EO 304 imposing a traffic rerouting scheme in all roads leading to cemeteries in the city. The implementation commenced 12noon of October 31 to 5pm of Nov. 2.

Mayor Climaco likewise lauded all cemetery administrators for closely coordinating with security forces that provided 24 hour security in the burial sites.
