In view of the ongoing road restoration activities in downtown Zamboanga, Mayor Beng Climaco has issued an executive order, directing the execution of a temporary traffic rerouting scheme along Mayor Cesar C. Climaco Avenue to decongest traffic within the vicinity.

Under EO BC-274 issued last June 22, the chief executive declared one-way streets from junction of M. Ledesma St. to junction Climaco Ave. to I. Magno St. (from BFP going to Shopper’s Plaza).

No left-turn is allowed on Gov. Lim Ave., Tomas Claudio St., and Pura Brillantes Street to Climaco Ave. However, no left turn is regulated on P. Lorenzo St to Climaco Ave. and J.S. Alano St. to P. Lorenzo St. No right-turn is regulated on P. Lorenzo St. to J.S. Alano St.

The schedule of implementation is from Mondays to Sundays, including holidays.

This traffic rerouting scheme was unanimously adopted by the Zamboanga City Traffic Operations Management Committee upon recommendation of the Zamboanga City Police Office thru the presentation of Chief Insp. Albert Sta. Teresa, deputy commander of Police Station 11, and concurrent chief of the traffic division.

Meanwhile, Sta. Teresa told the press briefing Monday that the one-way traffic experimental scheme in the west coast areas is placed on status quo, pending completion of the pipe laying project affecting most routes in the area.

The scheme started March 20 and will remain enforced until after the road diggings and restoration activities are completed, taking into account the road widening project as well.-(Vic Larato)
