Yesterday was a blast as we kick-off the city-wide celebration of the International Women’s Day as part of our National Women’s Month Celebration. This year’s Women’s Month has the theme of “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, which is anchored on the 5-year theme (2017-2022) “We Make Change Work For Women”.
The Runvolution, among many other GAD activities and initiatives, aims to advocate for gender sensitivity, inclusivity, equality, and empowerment among communities in Zamboanga City.
Mayor Beng in her message recalled that her grandmother was a suffragist who fought for women’s right to vote and be voted upon. She also highlighted the key role of women in nation-building. Mayor Beng Climaco was joined by D1 Representative Jawo Jimenez, Vice Mayor Meng Agan and Councilor Pinpin Pareja during the event.
The event gathered around 644 (403 Females/231 Males) fully-vaccinated participants from the different offices/agencies in the city.
