Brief History

History and Background

The City General Services Office was created on January 01, 1995 under Ordinance No. 166 – “An Ordinance Creating the Office of the City  General Services in the City of Zamboanga”, pursuant to Sections 454 and 490 of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991.

            This office was first headed by Mr. Alfredo S. Fuertes. After his retirement in June 30, 2004, this is now being competently headed by Engr. Rene M. dela Cruz.

            Other than the Administrative Support Services, this office consists of Four (4) Divisions with 112 personnel to include the Department Head and Assistant Department Head namely:

  1. Supply Management Division
  2. Building Management and Services Division
  3. Landscaping and Maintenance Services Division and
  4. Property Management Division.

           This office is also supervising the Green and Beautification Program of the City Mayor complimented with 37 Laborers.
