Six marine turtle nesting sites identified during a joint monitoring in Siromon Island, Barangay Dita, this city. The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) personnel together with the personnel of Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Community Environment and Natural Resources Office(DENR CENRO) Zamboanga City conducted the joint monitoring on May 10, 2023.

The island is known to be a home of marine turtle species like Hawksbill (Erethmochelys imbricata), Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas, and Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea). The marine turtles are expected to lay eggs during June to July of the year. 

Aside from Siromon Island, one marine turtle nesting site was identified in Bisaya-Bisaya Island.
