“USAID significantly helped us with protected area management. The timing was perfect because our management plans had already expired. We wanted to have management plans for Santa Cruz Islands and Pasonanca Natural Park, and USAID came over and we buckled down to work immediately. USAID helped us in the assessment and assisted us with law enforcement for these protected areas.
“The best highlight really is our forest land use plan, where USAID also came in to assist us. With USAID’s assistance, Zamboanga City’s forest land use became a model for both Pasonanca Natural Park and Santa Cruz Islands, with project funding and implementation set in motion.
