Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) personnel joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Zamboanga City in celebrating this year’s Earth Day at Great Sta. Cruz Island on April 22, 2019. 

One of the highlights of the said event was the launching of  the  flagship species  of Great Sta. Cruz  Island Protected Landscape and Seascape, the jellyfish. The flagship species icon named “Elly”, the friendly jellyfish, is a social marketing tool designed to encourage awareness to the people to support the conservation and protection of the islands and its species. The launching was followed by a coastal clean-up which  was participated by the OCENR personnel together with the on-the job training students of Western Mindanao State University and other participants from concerned government agencies  and Armed Forces of the Philippines.
