Zamboanga City has a total of 98 barangays divided into two congressional districts. The two districts are delineated by Veterans Avenue. District 1 is composed of 36 barangays on the west coast while District 2 is composed of 61 barangays on the east coast.
The 98 barangays are further classified into urban (30) and rural (68) barangays.
